To get a perspective of where and how large South Africa is, the small drawing in the upper left shows the whole continent of Africa, and the country of South Africa (orange color) in the extreme south of the continent. This view makes the country of South Africa look quite small, because of how large the overall continent of Africa is. However the country of South Africa is really quite large. If one compares this country with several of the large States in the western United States, the area of South Africa would equal all of Arizona, all of New Mexico, all of Colorado, all of Utah, and about 1/2 of Nevada. Looking at the size like this, it will be seen that the country of South Africa is quite a large country. Looking at the map above, some of the stops along the way will be Pretoria, Kruger Park, Swaziland, Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, port towns along Indian Ocean, and on down the coast, winding up at Cape Town. Looks like an exciting tour. |
