Deane, Norm, and Kay's Motorcycle / RV Trip to Northern Canada and Alaska

August 11, Grand Junction, CO to Cokeville WY - 430 Miles

This day started out very well, with our following a route taking us first over "Douglas Pass" in western Wyoming.   Douglas Pass is a fairly high pass, nearly 9,000 ft., and it rises very fast from its start in the valley.  Atop the pass, the visibility must have a hundred miles, with spectacular views of this and other mountain ranges.

Then we rode past the highly colored red, white, and pink sandstone area around "Flaming Gorge" reservoir.  This was very pretty, especially with our road taking us right next to the reservoir.

Everything on our route went fine until we hit an area of construction.  Not only were there eight miles of gravel road with a "pace car" leading, but an accident had just happened in the construction area, and the "Flagger" girl said they anticipated about two hours to get that cleared up.  When you come to a construction area tie-up and see an auto wrecker and an ambulance headed into the construction area, its a bit unsettling.

So we changed our route to take a little roundabout way to get farther on our way toward Idaho.  That brought us to the little town of Cokeville and we called it a day.  It was another pretty long day.
