Deane & Norm's Motorcycle Trip to Alaska

July 6 - Billings, MT to East Glacier, MT - 360 miles

Norm and I wanted to take in Glacier National Park on our way north, so we chose a route through the Montana cattle country.  It was a day for Montana "Big Sky" country, with beautiful green rolling hills with LOTS of cattle (certainly more than New Mexico can support).

Of course, we found a mountain range to ride over, the "Little Belt" mountains, part of the Lewis & Clarke National Forest.  The photo shows Deane at the top of King's Summit.

All went great until we approached the Rockies, and then we ran into tremendous crosswinds.  We weren't sure whether we could hold the bikes up, and had to stop to put on more riding clothes because of the cold winds.  However, after a struggle we made it, and settled into a cozy cabin in the town of East Glacier.
