Deane & Jack's Motorcycle Trip in

 Australia and New Zealand

March 11 - Auckland, New Zealand

In our last get-together on March 8th, Deane and Jack ended by saying "See you in Auckland, New Zealand in a couple of days!"  A half a world away, on two different airlines, Jack on New Zealand Air, ticketed by United Airlines, and Deane on Quantas Airlines, ticketed by American Airlines.

And it worked!  After long overseas flights, Deane and Jack met in Auckland, on schedule.  and that included going over the International Date Line, so that we gained a day.  This was kind of confusing in the planning stage. - After taking off on March 9th, "Where did March 10th go?"  Well, when we crossed the International Date Line, we went directly to the 11th.

We had enough time to walk around our hotel in Auckland, and then to bed to ward off jet lag.  In reality, there is only 4 hours difference between Albuquerque and Auckland, even though one has to add 12 hours for calendar time. - Kind of complicated.  The net result was that neither of us suffered from jet lag.

Tomorrow we rent the motorcycles in Auckland, and see what we can find within two days riding distance around Auckland.
